Attractions Near Our RV Campsite

Mayo River State Park

North of Madison and only around a 15-minute trip away lies Mayo River State Park. The park includes over 2,7000 acres along the river corridor and gives visitors access to a pavilion picnic area and shelter, fishing ponds, hiking trails, and restrooms. Known for its breathtaking views, this is one attraction you won’t want to miss. 

Belews Lake

Belews Lake is seated about 13 miles south of our campground. A fully recreational lake, it is a popular spot for boaters, kayakers, swimmers, and fishing enthusiasts. There is also a nearby area and boat launches around the lake. 

Hanging Rock State Park

Just two miles outside of Danbury, NC is Hanging Rock State Park. Located in the Sauratown Mountain Range, it is home to awe-inspiring waterfalls, unbelievable mountaintop views, hiking trails, and wildlife. Every trip is sure to hold a new adventure. 

Greensboro Science Center

The Greensboro Science Center is a zoo, aquarium, treetop adventure park, and museum all wrapped into one. There’s fun to be had by all ages when you visit. Best of all, the Greensboro Science Center is only about a half an hour’s drive away from our campground. 

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park

Dedicated to the Battle of Guilford Courthouse on March 15, 1781, the park offers a look into the history and culture of the soldiers and people of the American Revolution affected during the battle. This key American battle was instrumental in the British surrendering at Yorktown, and though the British won the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, they suffered considerable losses that led to their eventual defeat.

International Civil Rights Center & Museum

The International Civil Rights Center & Museum focuses on educating and working towards civil rights initiatives in the UR and around the entire world. Commemorating the February 1, 1960 sit-in at a whites-only lunch counter by the A&T Four, it is located at F.W. Woolworth’s five-and-dime site, which serves as an educational center and monument. 

Old Salem Museums & Gardens

Dedicating to educating visitors about those who lived in the early South, included Moravian, black, and indigenous peoples, Old Salem Museums & Gardens works to preserve and share the region’s rich history. The grounds include the Historic Town of Salem, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, and the Gardens at Old Salem.
